" Due to the current social justice issues in our society we face more stress than every before. Every human being is faced with daily threats to our mental health. It can be the stress of the loss of a parent, moving to a new neighborhood, changing jobs or going of to college. These life transitions are inevitable however, how we deal with these transitions can positively or negatively impact our health and well-being. Our youth deserve the social support needed to advance through life transitions and the time is now!"
Young Women Advancing in Transitions for Life, Inc. (YWAIT) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that was established in 2008 to meet the needs of disadvantaged young girls in surrounding Atlanta communities. Issues such as low self-esteem and anxiety led to an increase in startling statistics that proved our youth needed a quality mentoring program that could address their concerns and guide them in the right direction. Recently, our organization has revisited our mission by focusing on preventive mental health services due to the increase in mental health disparities among youth. Our unique promise of value is to go beyond creating future leaders and assist members develop the skills they need to flourish as leaders.
